Fleur De Lis

Previous | Home | Next
The fleur-de-lis (or fleur-de-lys; plural: fleurs-de-lis; is a stylized lily (in French, fleur means flower, and lis means lily) or iris that is used as a decorative design or symbol. In North America, the fleur-de-lis is often associated with areas formerly settled by France, such as Quebec, St. Louis, Louisville and Louisiana, and with French-speaking people in other Canadian provinces. Compare the tones used in the Fleur De Jazz and this Fleur De Lis. Note, that while the two paintings appear identical, the unique differences between David's Fleur De Jazz and this painting Fleur De Lis can be readily seen.
